Tutoring at ETS is built around a personalized plan created in partnership with parents, teachers, and our learning specialists.
Tutoring at ETS begins with an individualized program developed in coordination between ETS staff, the parent(s), and the teacher(s). Communication among the team members is critical to your child’s success. Depending on the individualized tutoring plan, sessions can incorporate homework help, organization skills, time management, and study strategies. ETS also has the expertise to work with students with an array of learning disabilities (including dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and attention disorders) as well.
We have a tutoring center and also offer some off-site tutoring on a limited basis.
For some middle and high school students, we can provide online tutoring if you cannot make it to our center.
We also have special tutoring programs such as the Wilson Reading Program (ideal for students with dyslexia or decoding difficulties, readers who lack fluency, or poor spellers) which is based on the Orton-Gillingham philosophy and utilizes a multi-sensory approach to phonics instruction for reading and spelling.
Your child can get the benefits of ETS tutoring without having to leave the comfort of home—a great solution if you live a distance from our tutoring center or have a schedule that precludes you from being able to get here!
Our online tutors are the same dedicated tutors you’ll find at our center, and they are available for your child on a schedule that fits your needs. You can also “mix it up” by tutoring one day per week in the center with your tutor and meeting them a second day online. We can work out an individual plan that works best for you and your family.
How online tutoring works…Every online tutoring session is live through the computer. Your child and his/her tutor work together in real time, talking to each other throughout the session. This allows your child to ask questions and get instant feedback and encouragement.
Our online tutoring allows for easy scheduling with no drive time with the same one-on-one attention that you love about ETS tutoring.
Academic Coaching is a type of individualized tutoring that focuses on the process of learning. With their tutor, students examine their learning styles, habits of working, and current challenges or obstacles to success. Together, the tutor and student work to create and put in place more effective strategies for learning. The goal is to increase awareness of learning styles, new study strategies, and work habits that create a more effective and efficient approach to learning and studying. We strive to study smarter, not harder! Another essential part of the academic coaching model is the accountability of the student to the tutor to follow-through with the plan and strategies that they together put in place.
